Starting at the end of this year, a demand-responsive autonomous shuttle (aDRT) will operate,

connecting KTX Seodaegu Station, Jukjeon Station on Line 2, and Seobu Bus Terminal Station on Line 1.

At Seodaegu Station, a robot service for transporting luggage will be introduced to enhance passenger convenience.

On the 28th, the Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with service

specialized companies A2Z, iRobots, Neotisis, and Winitech to establish mobility services incorporating these features.

The corporation will invest a total of 2 billion won over two years, including 1 billion won from national funds and

1 billion won from municipal funds, to advance the project. The main components of the project are

  1. 1. Operation of autonomous aDRT shuttles
  2. 2. Robot luggage transport service
  3. 3. Smart Mobility Hub Center
  4. 4. Policy support system based on mobility database
  5. 5. Mileage settlement and payment system
  6. 6. Development of a flexible dispatch DRT platform
  7. 7. Operation of DRT services for specific travel purposes (e.g., tourism) in the Palgongsan area.
Especially, the key aspects of this project, namely the operation of autonomous aDRT shuttles and the robot
luggage carry service, will commence at the end of this year. The robot luggage carry service will be available
at KTX Seodaegu Station. This will be the third instance of DRT operations in Daegu,
following the innovations in the Medical R&D District in October last year and in the Suseong Alpha City
and Innovation City Advanced Medical Complex in August of this year.

This agreement follows the selection of the ‘2023 Mobility Specialized City Development Project’ by the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure, and Transport. The participating organizations have come together to collaborate and ensure the smooth
and successful implementation of the project.

The Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation, as the leading organization for the project, will oversee the entire initiative
and provide administrative support, including the establishment of the Smart Mobility Hub Center. Autonomous A2Z
will be responsible for operating the autonomous aDRT shuttles, while iRobots will handle the robot luggage carry service.
Neotisis will develop the policy support system based on the mobility database, and Winitech will create
the public transportation mileage system and the flexible dispatch DRT app
for specific travel purposes (e.g., tourism).

Kim Ki-hyuk, President of Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation, stated, “Through this agreement,
we aim to successfully advance the Mobility Specialized City Development Project in collaboration
with capable local specialized companies. Furthermore, we will do our utmost to lead innovative
advancements in the future mobility sector and transform Daegu into a new mobility hub.
